John B. La Macchia, Jr., a retired Consulting Actuary, was born in 1931 in East Harlem, New York City where his love for baseball began as a boy and continues to today. Because the love of the sport has stayed with him throughout his life, John always dreamed about writing a children's book about baseball. He now resides in Santa Monica, CA.

about The illustrator

Angela Ponder is a graphic designer and illustrator of children's books. She loves baseball and, because she grew up with that love of baseball in St. Louis, MO, she's legally required to be a Cardinals fan. When she's not illustrating you can find her watching baseball, football, curling, and pretty much any other sport on TV.
